With the wonderful people at Already Been Chewed, I was tasked with creating “ink-detail” effects in Houdini for the new Andrew Reynolds/New Balance skateboard shoe collaboration. The idea was to bring the sketched ink on paper into the form of a real shoe. To achieve this effect, I used a variety of SOP-level tools to carve custom splines across the shoe.
