Tampa Bay Lightning Opener

With the wonderful people at Already Been Chewed, I was tasked with creating some interstitial shots for the 2024 Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey Team opener. This video would be played inside the stadium before games to generate anticipation and hype.

For this job, I had to create a dynamic POPs-based sparks system to interact with a hockey goal. I also made a SOP-based snow melting system that used volumes instead of geometry to render realistic snow. Along with the Houdini setups, I did a bit of compositing in After Effects to merge live footage into the 3d renders.
